Technical Support Engineer Job Description

Technical Support Engineer
ACME Corp is a leading maker of widgets, and was recently recognized by Big Deal Magazine as one of the top ten widget makers to watch.
We are looking for a technical support engineer who will help support our customer base, both directly and indirectly.
Responsibilities
- Helping customers solve technical issues with our widgets.
- Answering questions from customers and prospective customers about the features and capabilities of our widgets.
- Developing customer-facing documentation for our website on an as-needed basis.
- Communicating customer needs and wishes to our development and engineering staff.
Work is done primarily via email, with some phone contact.
Requirements
- Excellent understanding of the technical fundamentals of the Internet. You should have a solid knowledge of internet protocols such as SSH, FTP, SFTP & HTTP, as well as the ability to use diagnostic tools such as traceroute, ping, and dig.
- Strong command line Linux skills. You should have setup and run your own Linux servers before.
- Excellent Windows, Mac & Linux troubleshooting ability.
- The ability to be a good listener, and to really understand a customer problem or question and help them solve it.
- Excellent writing skills. Most of your work will be written (email, documentation, etc.).
- Excellent telephone mannerisms. Some support will be provided over the phone (via our VoIP system)
- 2-3 years previous experience in a technical support role

Kavitha, almost every organization needs Technical Support now a days but it depends upon the type of work. A Technical support eng may become a much experienced software engineer as compare to other SEs.Minium Salary for a Technical Support engineer is 1000USD approx.

it depends on work .different companies are using different softwares….. so its different types of work……IT is an different field from other fields..lot of knowledge & experience is recquired /so experience is the main thing…. join some small group from where we will get the knowledge & confidence that we can do all works. once u got the confidence, companies will come to pick u..

I just bought a new home and got furniture and everything you could dream for it. I work from home (4 out of 5 days) and I must tell you it's a pleasure. There's nothing like the comfort of your own home ! All I did to modernize my house starting from my kitchen and ending up with my bedroom was to search Cabinets Oro Valley on Google and they kind of did the rest !
Healthcare for me is one of the most important aspects while applying for a new job. If they don't cover that thing up (at least dental and emergencies) then in my opinion it's not worth the trouble. Especially if it's like a stressful or dangerous role to begin with. I know how expensive things can get on the market… it doesn't matter if you buy a Tri Luma Cream or band aids, everything costs money so why not reduce the spends ?

Overall Rating Comp speed US/UK servers Customer supropt I used to use a proxy but website some time detect my real IP. I also wanted to connect to Amazon Prime free movies + Hulu .etc. on my Samsung TV. So I considered using the VPN. The first company I used was StrongVPN through PPTP, and it is great when connecting through the laptop,I'm getting 2.0 mbps on 16mbps ADSL line, using speedtest.net which worked fine for streaming. The next step I was thinking about was to connect through a router to use more than one device, so I got Cisco E4200 with dd-WRT image installed. Unfortunately the speed was below expectation I was only able to get (0.6 mbps). So I tested it again using the laptop and I got 2.0mbps. I went back to E4200 but the same issue occurred speed dropped to 0.6-.08. I tried and change some configuration on the router with no luck. The next day I tried the service on the router and surprisingly it was working fine, streaming on Amazon was more the enough to watch HD movies. Unfortunately it didn't last much after a few hours the speed dropped again.Bottom line, from my testing, the speed is not consistent and I don't know if it is caused by the StrongVPN service or by E4200.
